Google Analytics 4 – Measurement ID

How to Obtain Your Google Analytics 4 Tracking ID for Beetle Tracking in WordPress

This guide will help you retrieve your Google Analytics 4 (GA4) Tracking ID, which you can then input into the Beetle Tracking plugin for server-side tracking in WordPress.

Step 1: Log in to Google Analytics

  1. Go to Google Analytics.
  2. Log in with your Google account.

Step 2: Navigate to the Right Property

  1. After logging in, you’ll see your Google Analytics dashboard.
  2. In the bottom-left corner, click on the Admin gear icon to go to the Admin panel.

Step 3: Select the Correct Account and Property

  1. In the Admin panel, make sure you are in the correct account (the one that contains your website’s data).
  2. Under the Property column, select the GA4 property for your website. If you haven’t created a GA4 property yet, click on Create Property and follow the setup wizard.

Step 4: Access the Data Streams

  1. In the GA4 property column, click on Data Streams.
  2. Select the data stream for your website. This is typically named something like “Web Stream” and will show your website’s URL.

Step 5: Locate Your Measurement ID

  1. In the details of your data stream, you will see a section titled Measurement ID.
  2. The Measurement ID is your GA4 Tracking ID and looks something like G-XXXXXXXXXX.

Step 6: Copy the Measurement ID

  1. Click on the copy icon next to the Measurement ID to copy it to your clipboard.

Step 7: Input the Measurement ID into Beetle Tracking

  1. Log in to your WordPress admin dashboard.
  2. Navigate to Plugins and make sure your Beetle Tracking plugin is installed and activated.
  3. Go to the Platform tab in your Beetle Tracking plugin.
  4. Find the field labeled Google Analytics 4 Tracking ID or similar.
  5. Paste the Measurement ID you copied from Google Analytics into this field.
  6. Save your changes.

Tips

  • Make sure the GA4 property is set up correctly and is collecting data before relying on the measurement ID for tracking.
  • Double-check that the Measurement ID you input into Beetle Tracking matches exactly the one from Google Analytics to ensure accurate data tracking.
